Applying for SSDI Benefits On Behalf Of Your Spouse

July 8, 2021 by Gregory

Does your spouse have a significant medical impairment? If so, he or she may be entitled to Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits. However, your spouse may not be in a physical or mental position to fill out an SSDI application on their own. This raises an important question: Am I allowed to apply for SSDI benefits on behalf of my spouse? The short answer is ‘yes’—at least as long as certain criteria are met. In this article, you will find a more detailed overview of the key things to know about applying for SSDI benefits on behalf of your spouse.

What to Know About Applying for Social Security Benefits for a Spouse

Helping your husband or wife with the SSDI claim can be confusing. The good news is that you have a lot of options available to help them work through the process. Here are three things to know about filing for SSDI benefits on behalf of a spouse:

  1. You Can Always Help You Spouse With the SSDI Application: If your spouse is working on filling out an SSDI application but needs some assistance on account of the medical impairment, you have the right to help them look for information, gather paperwork and fill out all of the necessary forms. The SSDI application is not a test—your disabled spouse does not have to do everything alone.
  2. If Able, Your Spouse Should Sign: All adults who are legally competent should sign their own name on SSDI application. A competent adult will then generally receive benefits in their name if their application is approved. Even if you or your Social Security disability attorney does most of the legwork on the SSDI application, your spouse should still sign if physically and mentally capable.
  3. You Can Act on Behalf of a Spouse Who Cannot Lawfully Sign: If your spouse has a severe medical impairment, he or she may not be able to sign any documents or accept payments. You may be in a position where you have to handle their financial affairs. Under federal regulations, a spouse—or other trusted loved one—can be appointed as ‘representative payee’. In effect, a representative payee is a trusted individual who is in charge of managing the SSDI application and SSDI benefits of a person who cannot manage their own affairs. To become a representative payee for a spouse, you should complete and submit Form SSA-1696-U4 (Appointment of Representative).

Never Filed for SSDI Benefits? A Social Security Disability Attorney Can Help

The Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) claims process can be challenging. For those filing for benefits for the very first time, it is normal to be confused or even overwhelmed by the requirements of submitting an application. If you need help filing your claim for Social Security disability benefits, you should not hesitate to reach out to an experienced Social Security disability attorney. An experienced SSDI lawyer will be able to answer your questions, explain the process, and help file an SSDI application on behalf of your spouse.

Can Someone With Autism Get a Job?

June 15, 2021 by Gregory

With approximately 0.7% of Australians affected by autism to some degree, it’s more common than people generally think. Autism is also far more common in males than it is in females, with younger people being more likely to be affected.

When it comes to job prospects and being gainfully employed, can a person living with autism get a job and hold down a job? Are there any jobs for people with autism?

In Australia, there is the National Disability Insurance Scheme or NDIS, which aims to help people living with a disability and employment is one sector they cover. According to Selectability Townsville, everyone deserves to have a fulfilling career and the NDIS aims to assist the different abled to find theirs. This means those diagnosed with autism can get assistance with job applications, writing a resume, interview practice and counselling related to employment.

Let’s take a closer look at the employment prospects for someone living with autism and what types of jobs an individual might be best suited to.

Diversity In the Workplace

There has been a big push in Australia in recent years for diversity in the workplace. This includes things like employing both men and women, people from different cultures and ethnic backgrounds, hiring people with a physical disability, and finding job roles for individuals who have autism.

There are many advantages to employers by hiring with diversity in mind, as having a broader mix of people adds to the skillset of the entire employee base, along with many different minds being capable of different things. This leads to better group problem-solving skills.

Diversity is also good for branding, as it paints a company in a positive light. Image has always been important, but even more so these days.

Employment and Autism

There’s no question that a job seeker who has autism is going to face more challenges than a regular job seeker, but that doesn’t make the quest impossible. Far from it. Understanding and awareness of autism are much more widespread today than it was in years gone by. More importantly, employers have a far greater understanding of what autism is and what an employee with autism can potentially do.

We talked about diversity in the workplace in the section above. Well, there is another category known as “neurodiversity”, which autism is a part of. Just like any mind has its strengths and weaknesses, so does the autism mind, and employers have recognised the incredible cognitive value an employee with autism can have for their business. People with autism or some form of disability often tend to remain in their jobs for longer too, rather than jumping ship all the time.

Not every instance of autism is the same. It varies from person to person. The way individuals communicate and interact can vary considerably. One characteristic quite common among people with autism is their innate ability to intensely remain focused on any task that’s of interest to them. Use this ability in the right way in the workplace and it’s a massive benefit and skill.

Which Job Roles Suit Someone With Autism?

Ideal job roles will be largely dependent on how an individual is affected by their autism. As mentioned earlier, it can vary quite a lot. Many people with autism are often very good with animals, as they can relate to animals better than to people. Animals often have more trust in the gentle and unassuming nature of a person with autism. Any job where an individual is working around animals is a good possibility.

Quite often, autism leads to having incredible problem-solving skills. An individual with this asset is well-suited to roles in IT, or any field where solving complex problems is required. A regular person can often get easily frustrated when trying to problem solve, but it can be the opposite for someone with autism.

The ability to perform repetitive tasks for very long periods of time is also a common trait in people with autism. This makes that person well-suited to working in areas like manufacturing and production, such as on a production line, where repetitive tasks are the norm. A lack of frustration and the ability to do the same thing over and over again makes a person with autism a real asset.

To truly discover which job roles would suit an individual with autism, it’s important to have a professional assessment made to define this. It will enable a far clearer picture of an individual’s strengths and weaknesses.

The Takeaway

Someone with autism can certainly find gainful employment and hold down a job. There is support available to achieve this goal and it’s a matter of discovering which type of job would suit that person the best.

3 Tips To Make Your Business More Appealing

June 14, 2021 by Gregory

No matter what type of business you own, you know how difficult it can be to generate a buzz and get new clients, or even keep people coming back. Usually this is no fault of your own, there is just so much competition out there in every different industry and ads being thrown at people’s faces on all platforms. It’s hard to know who they should give their business to. Lucky for you, there are small changes you can make to make your business more appealing to potential customers, and keep them coming back and referring people to you as well. Here are 3 simple tips for making your business more appealing.

Hire A Landscaper

You may put a ton of effort into how the interior of your business looks, but the exterior may be lacking. It is super important that the outside of your business looks appealing, inviting, and well taken care of, because it is the very first thing new or potential clients will see and judge you on. You can do yard work yourself, but a professional landscaper will really be able to help you prevent problems with your mower and maintain a healthy and beautiful lawn. It will be the first thing people notice when they come to your business!

Change Locations

If you are not getting as much business as you like, you may want to look at your current location and consider moving. Are you in a place that is easy to find, with ample parking? Are you near residential areas, or in a business district? These are all things to think about, but changing locations can actually help increase business a lot if you are strategic about it.

Signage

If you don’t have a large, noticeable, or unique sign outside of your business, people may have trouble finding you or may just pass you by without even knowing that you’re there. If you really want people to see your business right away, having proper signage will help you with that!

Make sure your sign is big and easy to read and remember to keep it as simple as possible while still conveying your point. It could have just your business name on it, a description of what it is you do, or even a fun graphic. Try to let your personality and that of your business shine through the signage.

Hopefully these tips will help you to make your business more appealing so that you will be able to attract all kinds of new customers! Just remember to stay true to your brand and to yourself, and make your business look like a place that you would like to go to as a client or consumer, and you’ll never go wrong.

5 Important Factors to Consider When Looking for an Industrial Property

June 14, 2021 by Gregory

Trying to find the perfect industrial property can be a bit daunting. If you don’t know what to look for you will probably end up wasting a lot of time, and may even buy a property but realize later on that it does not meet your requirements.

To make sure that you are able to choose an industrial property that fits your needs perfectly, there are several factors that you should take into account:

  • Budget

Calculating your budget can help you to save a lot of time when looking at industrial properties. Be sure to identify how much you can afford to spend on the property as well as construction of the buildings and fixed improvements that you require. Some of the other factors listed below may affect the cost, and if you know your budget beforehand you can narrow down your options more quickly.

  • Physical characteristics

The physical characteristics of industrial property include the size of the land parcel, its topography, levels, soil condition, and so on. All the physical characteristics need to be identified in detail to ensure that they fit your requirements and will let you construct a building of the size and type that you require while staying within your budget.

  • Location

Ideally the location of the industrial property you choose should match any requirements you have in terms of workforce availability, transportation corridors, raw material supplies, and so on. Some locations may have other advantages too, such as incentives or tax and duty reductions that can play a big role in your decision as it will influence your bottom line.

  • Utilities and services

In most cases industrial properties will need access to key utilities and services such as power, water, gas, sewers, drains, and bitumen roads. It is important that you identify whether these utilities are already available on the property, and check with the local council to determine how much it will cost to connect the supply if they are not.

  • Fixed improvements

Some industrial properties may already have fixed improvements – in which case you need to inspect their condition and decide whether or not they are relevant and should be kept. At the same time you should also decide on new fixed improvements that need to be built, and find out what local council regulations may be applicable.

As you can see these factors are extremely important when choosing an industrial property and you should take each and every one of them into account. If you’re still not certain, consulting a real estate agent with experience in industrial property Guadalajara or the location that you’re interested in may be a good idea.

It should be noted that aside from these factors, there are several others that may influence your decision including legalities, supply chain considerations, and local regulations. At the end of the day your focus should be on identifying your specific requirements and then focusing on industrial properties that you feel are able to meet them.

3 Reasons Why IoT Security Is Crucial To Healthcare

June 7, 2021 by Gregory

The healthcare industries have come in leaps and bounds in recent years in regards to IoT technology.

With the help from IoT, healthcare services can keep track of their patient’s care and needs. IoT technologies have a wide array of uses in healthcare today, but the security of the technology must be kept to a high standard.

Hacking and stealing confidential data has always been an issue that IoT technologies have had to deal with.

Security protocols have been put in place to ensure that this level of threat is kept to a minimum and we’re here to talk you through some of the most crucial elements of IoT security in healthcare.

1. Patient Privacy

It goes without saying that for healthcare providers to have top-notch care, they’re going to need to keep a lot of the patients’ most private details on record. Anything ranging from family history to next of kin, to addresses. JD Edwards is the perfect fit for any health facility looking to keep patient privacy private.

There’s plenty that needs to be tracked in healthcare, which means there’s plenty of data available for wannabe hackers if we’re not careful.

There is no bigger threat with online data than that of privacy. For years it has been the talking point of many companies and governmental bodies. A point that needs to be made to keep data safe at all times, as all data is private (especially healthcare data about a specific individual of this nature).

That is why it is of paramount importance to make sure that IoT security protocols are put in place. They’re there to look after the privacy of the patients throughout the healthcare system. There’s too much private information available and any unauthorized eyes that get a look at them are breaching laws.

2. Trust

Another crucial talking point with IoT security is that of trust. It goes hand-in-hand with the privacy points mentioned above and it needs to be talked about too. When a patient gives a healthcare provider their details, they’re trusting that provider to do right by them and look after them. No one is supposed to know details that are handed over confidentially, which is why it’s important to look after them.

IoT security protocols are in place specifically for this reason. It’s to give patients peace of mind about handing over their most personal details, while also giving healthcare providers a suitable legal cover.

When details are handed over, most patients are aware that they will be held online for the servers to access as and when they’re needed.

There are far too many people that don’t trust having their information online for this very reason. It makes them feel exposed, knowing that one hacker can come along and extract every little detail about them. Ensuring patients that IoT security systems are in place is crucial to gain their trust.

3. Data Manipulation

The third point to bring up about IoT security in healthcare is that of the problems associated with data manipulation by hackers. It comes as no surprise that most hackers aren’t just out there for financial gain like selling information (as the above two points are more related to).

Some hackers simply like the feeling of power and will manipulate data that they seize in ways that the healthcare providers can’t come back from.

Data misuse and destruction of data are just two ways that a hacker can manipulate a database to try and sabotage the work gone by an organisation. When any information is put online, it is left exposed and a hacker will always know of ways to find it.

If misuse of the destruction of data becomes a common thing that your healthcare provider has to deal with, then they’ll find it much harder to help their most in-need patients. This could spiral out of control very quickly and cause the services the provider gives out to falter under the pressure. IoT security systems are in place to stop these exact problems from existing in the first place.

Summary

As you can see, there are a couple of ways in which data is left vulnerable when IoT security systems are not put in place. Not least of which in the healthcare system.

There’s so much private and confidential information available for the taking, which most hackers are more than happy to get their hands on. It’s therefore of the highest importance to make sure that IoT security is in place in all elements of healthcare to prevent any such messes from occurring.

5 ways to support your business as it grows

June 4, 2021 by Gregory

Business growth is the primary goal of any entrepreneur, so here’s how to achieve it smoothly

Whether you’re running a large-scale enterprise or a small local business, growth is always the name of the game. The common mantra that if you aren’t moving forwards you’re going backwards certainly applies to life as an entrepreneur, and we’d all like to see our businesses reach new heights and overcome potential hurdles.

But business growth is never a linear journey, and there are bound to be some challenges along the way. Thankfully, there are plenty of things you can do to support your business as it grows. Here are our top tips for helping your business be the best it can be.

Utilise your data

Big businesses like Amazon and Facebook know the value of analytics, and you should, too. In fact, the big data analytics market is currently valued at more than $200 billion per year.

Data is arguably the world’s most valuable commodity, and understanding how your customers use your business – what they like, what they don’t, and what they expect – allows you to shift your priorities in order to meet their needs and demand attention.

For example, Google Analytics can show you bounce rate, page visits, average time on site and more, all of which is intrinsic in showing how to focus your marketing efforts.

Invest in a software development company

In today’s wholly digital society, software is more important than it has ever been. Having the right technology on hand is absolutely vital for improving both the security and the productivity of your company.

The problem is that many businesses struggle to find software that’s the perfect fit for their needs. New or small businesses often can’t afford to invest in large-scale software, but you also don’t want to settle for software that you’re only going to outgrow in a matter of months.

The answer often lies in a carefully considered investment in bespoke software. A bespoke software development company can help you develop solutions that are tailored to your business size and needs, and can also grow and expand as your business grows and evolves.

Improve your homepage

Your homepage is your digital shop front. Data shows that 96% of visitors to your website aren’t ready to buy something, so your homepage needs to be able to seal the deal. If it’s cluttered and too hard to navigate, they’ll likely go elsewhere.

Web copy should be clear and concise, and show the value of your products and services. There should be an obvious call to action and a visually-appealing design that reflects who you are as a brand.

Create content

Regular content means regular interest. Content is key both for your website and for your social media profiles, and can establish a reputation that you are an expert in your field. And don’t just use your content to talk about your own services and achievements either. Engaging in your competitors and with your customers is a fantastic way to cement yourself within the wider spectrum of your industry, opening you up to a larger customer base in the long term.

Prepare contingencies

At first, you may be able to pivot quickly when things don’t go as expected. However, as your business grows and there are more factors involved – including more clients and staff – it becomes more difficult to rely on quick adjustments.

Make sure you have a plan in place for emergencies or unforeseen contingencies, so that you’re able to deal with the bumps in the road that inevitably come with running your own business.

What Risks To Consider When Analysing Your Business

May 26, 2021 by Gregory

No matter what type of business you’re running, or whether it’s large or small, every business can face a multitude of potential risks. Some hazards can be so catastrophic that they can destroy a business. Other risks could result in an injury to an employee, a loss of business income or even damage to your business reputation.

The trick is to prepare for risk by first recognising what risks exist and then implementing plans to negate those risks as much as possible.

Tips for Identifying Risk

One of the best methods to gather information regarding risks in your business is to arrange a meeting with all staff members and get their input. Everyone works in different roles and sees different things, so it’s vital that owners and managers liaise with staff when compiling a list of possible risks.

It’s also wise to do some research on similar businesses and discover what problems they’ve had to deal with and what risks they’ve had to face over the years.

Identifying risks is an ongoing process and why it’s important to log everything you think of into a risk management plan.

Analyse the business activities on every level and note anything that could present a problem. Dedicated software can certainly help with enterprise risk management solutions, as it will help you recognise and manage risks, as well as provide vital analytics and reports.

What Are the Physical Risks?

Both the building and the operational practices of the business can present physical risks. These can include things like the operating of machinery, the potential for fire or explosions, electrocution, hazardous materials, debris and obstructions that could cause injury, slippery floors, toxic fumes, dust, poisonous substances, gases, forklifts, other vehicles in the workplace and much more.

It will take some time to both list potential physical risks and to come up with systems to avoid accidents and injury.

Human Risks To Consider

Human risks are about the people that work in the business. We all know people are not perfect and can make mistakes, either accidentally or even deliberately.

Some human risks to take into consideration are the possibilities of alcohol or drug abuse in the workplace. Other risks could include things like employees stealing goods and equipment from the business, or possibly even defrauding the company.

Both illness and injury also come under the umbrella of human risks when doing a risk assessment and creating a risk management plan.

Financial Risks

Every enterprise is going to face financial risks. It’s just a part of doing business. When a business is launched and capital has been sunk into the business, that capital is at risk the moment the business commences, as there are never any guarantees the business will succeed.

Pouring money into business expansion or trying a new direction is another financial risk that businesses must face. Even the purchasing of new equipment could be considered a financial risk.

Financial risks are unavoidable. In order for a business to commence and progress, chances have to be taken with spending funds. It’s a matter of weighing up the risk/reward ratio to determine if going ahead with a plan is viable.

Risks Based On Location

Location risks are something else that need to be considered. Are you in an area that’s renowned for severe storms, such as cyclones or devastating thunderstorms?

Aside from the elements, another location risk could be a lack of customers due to your location, or too many competitors in the same area.

Strategy Risks

Strategic risks can often tie in with financial risks. Business owners and managers have to make decisions on a regular basis. Sometimes these decisions are right and sometimes they’re not. When devising and implementing new strategies or a new direction for the business, there is always the risk that it may not work out the way you planned.

As with financial risks, strategies need to be analysed to determine how risky they really are and what the repercussions would be if they failed.

The Takeaway

It’s worth taking the time to fully analyse your business and list every conceivable risk you can think of. Being aware of the risks is the first major step in effective risk management and the more you mitigate risk, the better it will be for your business.

Since we don’t want that to happen, we have gone out to have a chat with veteran entrepreneur Nimrod Santo, who has given us tips about the best ideas you can explore for online entrepreneurship in 2021.

Chatbot

According to Nimrod Santo, chatbots have been growing in popularity and importance recently. Various businesses have started using them to attract more customers by replying to their messages as fast as possible. Social media platforms like Facebook and Telegram have also made chatting with friends, family members and business partners a norm.

This makes going into the business of helping websites and businesses launch chatbots a very lucrative one.

Managing Ads

If there’s anything every company needs, it’s the ability to drive traffic and convert prospects into customers. This is where ads come in.

From social media to video ads, companies have to make use of every tool available to them to thrive above their competition. Right in the middle of this is paid advertisements.

These ads make use of platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Google among others to help companies drive traffic. They are simple but there’s a lot to manage, they can become complex. You can put yourself in the perfect position to help companies manage their ads.

That makes appearing on the first page a big deal. If you can help businesses and bloggers do this, it’ll be a really great business idea.

Are More Remote Associates on the Horizon?

May 11, 2021 by Gregory

The COVID-19 pandemic brought a shift in the way people carried out their daily lives. Going to work and sitting in an office is no longer a norm. Instead, many of America’s workers faced the transition to remote working. Training sessions, board meetings, and court hearings are now frequently done virtually.

In light of the recent shift in the way Americans work, law firms are opening up to the idea of hiring associates remotely. In addition, many firms are considering carrying out virtual training. Experienced attorneys are now virtually mentoring their associates. Though the transition to a remote-work-based society was tough for many sectors, there may be some benefits attached to remote working, particularly for law firms.

Benefits Of Having Remote Associates

Though the idea was alien in the beginning, there are many reasons why law firms are now welcoming the idea of remote workers.

Flexibility

Stringent traditional office work environments don’t apply to remote associates. A remote associate can work at his or her own pace as long as his or her output is unaffected. This ensures that both the individual’s personal and professional lives are balanced. This balanced work-life system is essential for quality work output, yielding higher productivity from refreshed remote associates.

Work Productivity

An associate working remotely is likely to be more productive than one in the office. Law firms have registered an increase in the work output of their remote associates with employee monitoring software. An associate with the freedom to control his or her work environment has better work output than one stuck in a controlled environment.

Increased Use Of The Virtual Space

The recent pandemic pushed law firms out of their comfort zones and into a new way of doing things. Associate training, for instance, is no longer done in-person, but online. However, this raises the question of how these firms will convey their cultures and values to associates virtually. Virtual training sessions also allow associates an opportunity to engage with senior associates. This all happens with a click of a button.

Additionally, some cases require a lawyer to have a one-on-one sitting with his or her client. An injury lawyer, for example, sometimes needs to assess his or her client. The increased need for remote productivity has led to innovations in the way people work. All of the above can now easily be done through virtual meetings using video conferencing, such as Zoom and Skype.

Improved Inclusivity

Remote work enables law firms to embrace diversity. This happens when they hire associates from different geographic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. This diverse range of associates comes with different perspectives.

It is challenging to find an onsite job as an associate. Remote working has enabled many Americans to find employment right from the comfort of their homes.

Quality Of Service

Law firms have noted an increase in the quality of service offered by remote associates. These associates are eager to develop productive professional relationships with successful practitioners.

Economic Savings

Hiring remote associates is economical. Both the law firm and the associate save. To illustrate, the associate saves on costs such as transport, lunch, fuel, and other overheads associated with working in an office setup. On the other hand, law firms also see noteworthy cost savings. Remote work enables these firms to save on things like overheads, transit subsidies, and real-estate costs.

As technology continues to evolve, remote working will gain more prevalence than it has already. Law firms should embrace the thought of having their associates work remotely.
